Special Issue Information

The aims of the current special issue are to:

  • Collect the recent achievements in the fields of cellulose and crystalline cellulose,
  • Present the outstanding results for synthesis and utilization of both micro- and nanocrystalline cellulose obtained by The Wood Technology Laboratory, King Abdullaziz University
  • Propose the suitable solutions to solve the technical obstacles facing these industries.

The scope of the current special issue are to:

  • Micro and nanocrystalline cellulose have been encountering technical obstacles in crystallization, drying and embedding into composites. Improvements of their production methods and their qualities can accelerate their commercialization and reduces their global prices. Spectroscopic studies of their self-assembly can be useful to overcome these difficulties. Accordingly, the suggested special issue will focus on the real enhancement of these valuable industries.

  • Crystalline cellulose definition: micro- and nano-scaled products.
  • Synthesis of microcrystalline cellulose.

  • Quantitative and qualitative improvements in micro- and nanocrystalline cellulose production.
  • Utilization of microcrystalline cellulose in pharmaceutical and food industries.
  • Utilization of nanocrystalline cellulose in composite materials.
  • Utilization of nanocrystalline cellulose in liquid crystal display
