Three variants are recognized: central, peripheral, and extraskeletal. The peripheral type is the most common. It mostly affects the paranasal sinuses, and rarely occurs in the jaws. Osteomas can be either solitary or syndromic. Multiple maxillofacial osteomas are often associated with Gardner¡¯s syndrome.
