Abstract

Since 1980, children with obesity between 6 and 11 years of age have doubled, and the percentage of obese adolescents from 12 to 19 years has tripled. It has been found a deterioration of cognitive performance in a growing number of obese adolescents. It has been observed a relationship between birth weight and an adverse academic performance a posteriori. In this review we describe the different relationships between obesity in adolescents and its impact on the academic performance from different articles published between the years 2008 to 2016.
