Abstract

The present work deals with the study of variation of groove angle on the performance characteristics of a two- axial groove journal bearing. Two grooves are sited axially at ±90º to the load line. Different groove angles have been considered in the present work. The effect of varying groove angle on the performance characteristics is studied. The side flow, bush temperature, mean journal temperature and attitude angle having large variation as groove angle changes. Whereas pressure, minimum thickness of fluid film and eccentricity ratio has very small variation. Smaller groove angle is recommended for performance characteristics of two-axial groove journal bearing.
