Abstract

This paper discusses the methodology of usability testing on the base of the real-time analysis of user’s electroencephalogram (EEG). In the experimental study of the control groups of users working with a real interface of commercially relevant applications, two distinct user states were revealed which correspond to the superposition of EEG beta and delta brain waves corresponding to the so-called «calm» state and «excited» state. These states are characterized by the user experience with a friendly user interface and an interface that is considered by experts as subjectively complicated and confusing. On the basis of the obtained data, some improvements in the users interface for mobile devices were proposed, which led to a threefold increase in its CRT (click-through rate).
