<abstract language="eng">An experiment simulating the natural cycle of photosynthesis and respiration - and dealing with both matter and energy conversion - is presented and theoretically elucidated. Teaching recommendations concerning the integration of the Photo-Blue-Bottle experiment into lower chemistry and biology education according to the 5E Instructional Model are provided as well as supplementary materials.</abstract>
