GC-MS analysis of the essential oil from the fresh leaves of Anacardium occidentale from Nigeria detected sixty components. The essential oil was hydro-distilled by using Clevenger-type apparatus. The main constituents in the essential oil from the leaves were beta-caryophyllene (17.36 %), alpha-copane (13.50 %), germacrene D. (10.67 %), germacrene B (9.93 %) and gamma-cadinene (8.17 %).
