Micro-projects are almost excluded from the funding programs offered by the Tunisian banking sector. This is partly due to the weakness of the amounts requested and, mainly, to the absence of collateral. In a bid to satisfy these small enterprises need for financing, a new financing specialized institution, was created in 1997, namely, the Tunisian Solidarity Bank (BTS).
