abstract={The high rates of reported emotional dysfunctions among parents of children living with developmental disability cannot be over emphasized. Application of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) has been reported to be a useful counselling strategy to reduce strong negative emotions and promote more effective parentsĄ¯ emotional functioning state which in turn helps to increase childrenĄ¯s positive behaviour and learning. By adopting and critically examining the theoretical claims of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), particularly the ABC model as diagnostic and intervening tool, this position paper upholds the application of REBT as an essential counseling tool for parents of children with special needs.},
