<abstract language="eng">The article offers a short survey of the Ukrainian generations of 1900 through 2000. It details on the main features of the epoch and the environment in which generation Y was formed. The author specifies on the generation born in 1983 -2003 and connects it with the peculiar features of the 'millennials' entry into higher education.</abstract>
