Special Issue on Advancement in Fiber Composite

The scope of this special issue to cover the current advancement of fiber composite material utilization and application. Fiber composite is experiencing viable research, innovation, and enhanced product development. Importantly, the global composite market is indicated to reach around US $ 35.1 billion by 2019; that would be accompanied by several developments in the consumption of fiber composite materials. Highest growth is expected in aerospace sector. Fiber composite provides significant contribution in terms of structural component and materials used in aircraft production.

An example may be seen in aircraft, where fiber composite material consumption may reach 50 % or more in weight percentage. Important application areas of fiber composite including aerospace, automotive, building, civil construction are experiencing the introduction of improved fiber composite structures. Cost reduction, weight reduction, improved performance, environment- friendly, and ease of design structure etc., are possibly achievable advantages using fiber composites in product manufacturing.

The aim of this special issue is to report the original recent research work, reviews, market and case studies describing the advancement in fiber composites. All the papers received would be processed through the journal review standard.

The scope of topics covered in the this issue include:

  • Natural fiber composite- design development, structural studies, performance evaluation, and comparison with synthetic/polymer fiber composite, glass fiber composite etc.,
  • Carbon fiber composite- recent development, application, and studies describing the effectiveness of carbon fiber composite utilization,
  • Effects of resin system selection on the performance properties of fiber composite
  • Fiber composite utilization in aerospace, automotive, building, civil construction,
  • Processing/ finishing of fiber composite,
  • Evaluation of fiber composite etc.

Special Issue on Advances in Coatings

In the present special issue, we have focused on wear, fracture and fatigue properties in coating systems. We encourage researchers to submit their original articles, in which new, innovative and evaluable works have been performed, by both numerical and experimental techniques. Specifically, we are interested in researches that could be proposed in material characterizations and behavior evaluations of coatings under wear and fatigue phenomena, numerical and experimental techniques for coatings under wear and fatigue phenomena, applications of coatings in internal combustion engines and gas turbines, wear and friction phenomena in coatings, isothermal/un-isothermal fatigue behaviors in coatings, coating layers for improving fatigue properties and the wear resistance, depositing coatings by different spraying techniques, surface modifications with various types of coatings, etc.

Special Issue on Angora: From Fiber to Fabric

Angora is a keratinous textile material, produced by the long-haired Angora rabbit. The Angora rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) is raised solely for its fine and soft hair, unlike other breeds which are produced for their meat and fur. This fibre is one of the “luxury fine fibres”, which also include mohair, cashmere, and alpaca. These speciality wools only represent 3% of world clean wool production, but their price can be 10 to 30 times more than that of sheep wool. Several factors contribute to this difference, including their toughness, lightnesss, fineness, softness, and also their image and reputation. Although there are many articles related to the wool fibers, researches and articles on angora fiber processing are very limited. This special issue aims to put together research results of selected experts on this subject.

  • Analysis of fiber characteristics of angora wool;
  • Pre-treatments of angora rabbit wool;
  • Dyeing of angora rabbit wool;
  • Finishing of angora rabbit wool;

  • Comfort and thermal properties of fabrics produced from angora fiber.
